ALLSTAR OTIS INTERVIEW . . .

Thanks to: Chris of Allstar Otis, and their publicist for setting it up!

First of all, why don't you tell everyone a little about yourself?
Well, we are Allstar Otis. We are 4 best friends from Randolph and we still attend high school.  We have played all the NJ, NY, PA area and we hope to go even further.  We have a CD, Something Smells in Denmark. It's outdated, but still good.

Why did you guys decide you wanted to become a band?
Because we love music. The reason we stayed a band was because we love shows.

How long have you been together?
Me, guitar, and Ryan, bass/vocals, have been playing in bands for, hmmm, 4 years. We picked up Matty on drums, like 8 months ago, and Kenny on guitar just joined this January.

How did the band come up with the name Allstar Otis?
Hhahaha, it's funny.  Ryan just pulled "allstar" out and my old dog's name was Otis.  It's funny, because he was a basset hound and he was SOOOO fat, and he just did a lot of funny stuff... Well, RIP, Otis.

You're still in high school. Do you find it's really tough to play in a band full-time, and keep up with all your work for school?
Yes, I have no  trouble with it, but some members do. It's rough, but we help each other, so it's not that bad.

If you could tour with any singer or band, who would it be and why?
Over It, because they're amazing.

Has any genre of music affected you as a musician?
Everything affects me... not just music.

What CD(s) are in your CD player right now?
Over It - Timing is Everything, Slick Shoes - Wake Up Screaming, Staring Back -  On.

How would you describe your music?
Well, our CD is pop punk. We recorded it last September. One of the tracks, 3, is our old guitarist side project type deal. Our new music I can't describe, a mixture of Over It, Saves the Day, and, I guess, Rufio.

Does the band write your music? If so, how do you find your inspiration?
Ryan does most of the writing. We all put ideas in, but he puts them together. His lyrics are about friends mostly, no girls, but problems our friends have faced, friends that are now enemies, and just life.

Do you have any tips for aspiring bands and singers that aren't as far along as you are?
Dont quit. Play shows. PRACTICE!

Last, but not least, do you have a message for your fans?
Come to shows, support the scene.
