MAE CD REVIEW . . .
Have you been searching for the perfect summer sountrack? Chill music, that you could listen to anywhere, with anyone, Well i've found it. Tooth & Nail records proudly presents their newest child, Mae.
Mae's first full-length, Destination:beautiful is the perfect blend of Heartfelt lyrics, Skilled guitar melodies, and catchy chorus's it'll keep you hooked all summer long. Mae starts you off with the catchy, upbeat song 'Embers and evelopes' that and you'll be singing along in no time. The next song, ' this time is the last time' changes pace with an added seriousness, not heard in the first track, but equally as addicting. The third track 'all deliberate speed' is a very well put together song but it doesn't possess the originality of the other songs. 'runaway' instantly dismiss's any fears that the album was going downhill, using a relatable topic 'runaway' pulls you back to the cd full-force. The fifth song 'sun' is my personal favorite. Jumping from melody line to melody line, and powerful lyrics between, ending with a piercing piano solo, it keeps you hanging for every last second. 'last call' is just a fun song, makes you want to get up and do something productive, but sit back down and listen to the rest of the cd! ;)! 'Skyline drive' has to be the most chill song i've ever heard in my life, i mean seriously you could put this on as a lullaby for an infant. Starting off with a Music box type melody, it slowly progress's to a powerful lyrical highpoint which makes you feel like hes singing right to you."Soundtrack for our movie" definately is in my top three of the album, this time its the lyrics that got me, "Well i'm a wreck, i really can't explain it, but i hear the music when i look at you.Orchestrating the song to accomodate the moment. Well i'm so in love with you" Followed by funky electronic beats, just a feel good song that everyone has to like. "Summertime" is sure to be your summer anthem forever, this is the song that got me into the band, and probably the song that will keep me loving them forever. 'giving it away' doesn't stand out much, i'd have to say the weakest on the album. The last track " Goodbye, Goodnight" is the perfect ending to the album you wish would never end.
Overall i think this is one of the best releases of the year, and i definately recommend it to anyone. Rock on Mae.
