WAKEFIELD CONCERT REVIEW . . . This review is of Wakefield show in Chicago, IL. The show was on May 20th, 2003.
![]() After the 15 minute set change after Limbeck performed, the lights finally dimmed. The long 4 month wait was over. I was finally seeing Wakefield perform, again. Wakefield came out onto the stage, and the fans went wild. A lot of fans knew who they were, because they had previously toured with The All-American Rejects. The fans were very excited, like I was. The band started off by playing "Give Me A Reason", and then went right into their tongue and cheek song, "Sold Out". They introduced themselves, and got the fans going. After the introductions, the band started playing "Girls Rock Boys", and then went directly into the next song, which was "Positive Reinforcement".
After talking about the TV show, Ryan started talking about how everyone who was there with a girlfriend needed to wrap his arms around her, because that's what the next song was about. The song was "Heaven's Coming". Up next was my personal favorite song, "Decisions". Unfortunately, this song didn't make the album, but that's what makes seeing it performed live so much better. After that song, they went into their song "Infamous" where the lyrics go "We suck yeah. We're never gonna make it". Well, Wakefield, you made it.
Wakefield, being the gracious guys they are, then thanked the fans for coming to the show and checking them out. They told the fans about their "Shocking Special" where you could buy their debut CD, American Made, and a T-shirt for $15, which was a great deal. They then went on to a cover song by Super Drag, where JD took the lead for some of the parts. Unfortunately, it was about time to go. So, the band thanked everyone for their support, and for coming out to the show. They finished the set with "Say You Will". They again thanked everyone, and left the stage. That was it. The show was amazing, and left me, and many of the fans smiling, and wanting more. I hope to see the band again, soon, and I will be a fan for a very long time.
