How old were you when you decided you wanted to be in the entertainment industry?
About 5.
Have you ever taken dance/vocal or acting lessons? If so, for how long? Are you still taking them?
I've been taking singing and dancing lessons since 5, and acting since around 7. I still take all of them. Oh, and you should never stop taking any type of training. There's always room for improvement!
Have you had any weird fan encounters?
Some. A lot of people would call them weird, but are actually kinda normal. Like, sometimes I'll get the shaking fan, which everyone thinks is crazy, but they can't help their excitement when they're meeting someone they care a lot about. I shook a little, when I met Britney Spears-fweeew:)
How do you deal with so many fans? Is it getting old, yet?
I think the minute you don't have time to at least take a picture with your fans or sign something for them, or more importantly acknowledge them, there's no point being in this business. They mean the world to me and revolve around everything I do, so taking the time to "deal" with them is just as important to me as getting up on stage and doing my show. If not more!
How does it feel to be young and in the music scene?
I love it! To get this opportunity at my age just makes me more grateful and appreciate it more. Starting young just means I have more time to enjoy what I love to do!
Do you have an agent, manager, or both? If so, how long have you had them?
I have had a manager for about 5 years.
You've been a singer, an actor, and performed on Broadway. How
does it feel to be only 17 and have accomplished so much?
Like I said before, I had this dream early on in my life, at around 5, so to have received the chance to do what I've done already makes me really grateful. It takes a lot of hard work, though. One thing I realized is that if you are lucky enough to get the break and you really have a love and perseverance for what you do, you can accomplish a lot.
Was 'The Biggest Fan' your first movie? If not, what was?
Yup, it was my first big scale movie. I had done movies called industrial movies when I was really little, which are little 30 min. short stories, and I made a TV movie on HBO called Manifesto.
Where do you live? Did you have to travel far to work on the movie?
I live in New York City. I shot the movie in California. It was A LOT of fun! What a great experience.
What were the best and worst parts of making the movie?
There were so many great times I had during the making of the film, but the overall winner was showing it to fans at my first screening. The worst..hmm, well it had to be the fact that all the guys [Dream Street] were supposed to be in the movie with me. I was only gonna have a couple more scenes than them and that didn't settle too well with their Moms. That was just one project that we couldn't split up equally. Why they didn't do it is beyond me. If it was them that had the extra scenes, I would've done it, I didn't even have a solo on our first single, but I didn't not record though.
Do you have any movie projects, or anything else in the works right now?
Well, I just signed a solo deal with Columbia Records (Sony). I'm currently working on recording my album and working on the choreography of my first single!! I'm soooo excited that I'm back doing what I love. I also have been working hard promoting the duet I sang with the girl group "Play" all summer. And the screenings for my fans of my movie, those have been a lot of fun! Plus I've been taking a lot of new photos from photo shoots, so keep your eye out! I think I'm on the cover of Popstar Magazine next month! Wow! I'm so happy to be working again. Woohoo!!
How do you deal with school? Are you tutored? Homeschooled?
I get tutored, that way I can still keep a busy schedule. LOL!
Since you're underage, you have to have a chaperone. Do you bring any family or friends along?
Actually, since I'm almost 18, my mom has been really cool about me being a little unaccompanied. I've been in the business so long she always tells me I'm 17 going on 30. LOL! Oh, and if allowed by the parent, you don't always have to have a chaperone with you, especially at my age. But, whenever I go out of the country or if I'm going somewhere I think my mom would like to go, I always invite her, but little weekend travels aren't something she comes on. She always says, "I trust you, and I'm not the one performing up on that stage, so as long as you know how to pack and unpack your own suitcase, I think you'll be OK by yourself". Haha! I love her!
If you weren't acting or singing, what would you like to do?
I would probably be a journalist, or work behind the scenes of the recording or movie industry.
Will you look back on these years as the 'good 'ol days'?
Without a doubt! These past years have been some of the most exciting years of my career, and I'll always look back on them as a special time in my life and a learning experience, as well!! Oh, and hope for many years like them to come.
Is there anything you would like to say to the fans reading this now?
Life is the roughest road to travel on, especially the one that takes you to your dreams. Thanks for smoothing out my trip and making my dreams come true -LOVE YOU ALL LOTS- CHRIS
