First off, why don't you tell us a little about yourselves?
Dave: Hey, this is Dave and Jarrod from the band, Counterpart. I am the lead singer/guitarist in the band. We're pretty much categorized as pop-punk by those who have heard us.
Jarrod: I play bass and sing some backup vocals.
How did you guys get together and form the band?
Dave: We've all been friends for a long time. After some other bands broke up, we decided to form Counterpart.
Jarrod: We were bored.
How did you come up with the band name, Counterpart?
Dave: We had a lot of crappy ideas for band names, but finally narrowed down to Counterpart or Blink 182, but the other one was already taken, I've been told.
How would you describe your music?
Dave: Generally, one could describe us as pop-punk, but I like to believe we bring a little something different than your average pop-punk band. Like "the rock", you know?
Jarrod: We sound sort of like a "happy" AFI.
You currently have a demo/3 song EP out. Are you going to release a full length CD anytime soon?
Dave: Depends on if and when someone wants us to release it on their label and can front the money. We are poor boys.
Jarrod: Hopefully, someday, but we're currently trying to save for a van.
Are you signed to a record label? If not, if you could be signed to *any* record label, who would it be, and why?
Dave: No. I think I'd like to sign to Island Records, because I think we would fit in well there with their current roster, but be different from any other band they have. We would fill a void I think they currently have. Plus, I've heard they're all about artistic freedom and are really artist-centered, in general.
Jarrod: Either Fueled by Ramen or Drive-Thru, because a lot of my favorite bands are on those labels and I think their reputations are unmatched in the "indie" label world.
You guys still do local shows. Are you hoping to go on a nationwide tour anytime soon?
Dave: We've been trying to get together some dates in other regions, but until we have a label to support us, or happen to get a big break of some sort, we probably won't be going nationwide, although that is in our future plans, at some point.
Jarrod: Yeah, we'd definitely like to as soon as possible. I think living off your music would be a unique experience and help us grow as musicians, because the nip you suck, you don't eat.
If you could tour with anyone, with whom would it be, and why?
Dave: My dream tour would definitely include Blink182, and Simple Plan, and probably Movies With Heroes. Why? Because they are some of my favorite bands and I would love to be able to play with/hangout with the guys in those bands. I think they're all pretty rad guys, too.
Jarrod: Evanescence, because the lead singer girl is amazingly attractive or The Beatles, but obviously that's not happening.
What CD/CD's are currently in your CD players?
Dave: All-American Rejects. I discovered them like 3-4 months ago and I love them so much I just can't stop listening to it. Wait! Add them to my tour. Can I do that?? Go back!
Jarrod: AFI Sing the Sorrow, amazing.
What's the best thing about being in a band?
Dave: Performing our songs onstage, and actually having people like them and care. Definitely the best thing for me.
Jarrod: The idea of getting girls... but so far it isn' t true.
What's the worst thing about being in a band?
Dave: Having people critcize your music you worked so hard on, but it's just part of the biz, so you have to get over it quickly.
Jarrod: See last question.
Do you have a message to your fans?
Dave: Wait! We have fans??? Were those the chubby boys following us around Wal-Mart... hmmmm....? STOP FOLLOWING US, YOU'RE SCARING US!!! Oh, yeah, and we're looking for a new drummer, because ours is leaving, so email us or something.
Jarrod: I can't think of anything clever, because I'm really hungry and I'm going to eat now.
