Greg Raposo Interview

First off, why don't you introduce yourself?
Hi, I'm Greg Raposo

How would you describe your music?
I like to think of my music as "Clean Rock."

Of course this is old news, but did you consider the break-up of Dream Street to be a "new beginning", or were you really upset (or both?)?
The break-up of Dream Street wasn't a new beginning at all. It was the end of one stage in my life and now I'm moving on to the next stage.

Your first solo CD, Greg Raposo, was just recently released. Why don't you tell us a little about that?
I'm really proud of my first CD. It was a lot of fun to make and it's so cool to see songs that I wrote in my room sitting on shelves in stores. When I listen to my CD, it's like reading back on old diary entries.

You were on tour with Aaron Carter this summer. How did that go?
I had a lot of fun being on tour this summer. It was great to see so many old fans as well as new fans. Not having my band was the hard part, but it was part of the deal to go on the tour. Touring along with Jump 5 and Stevie Brock was lots of fun. We all became really good friends.

Is any other tour currently in the works? If so, could you tell us a little about that?
Actually, there is another tour in the works coming really soon. I'm not too sure on what I'm allowed to say or not, but I'm pretty sure it's definite. If you don't already know about it then I'm sure you'll be finding out real soon. It will be a national tour. Keep a look-out for my official update and if anyone would like to join you can e-mail GregsWorld12345@aol.com and you will be added for free.

If you could go on tour with any singer or band, who would it be, and why?
That's a really tough question because there are so many artists and bands who I would be so honored to be on tour with that I don't think I could just pick out one from the bunch - Bon Jovi, Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, almost anyone...

What is one of the best parts of being in the music industry?
I love being on stage. It's my passion. Being able to perform for an audience makes me the happiest. Music is so much a part of me and I am very fortunate to have a place in music history.

What is one of the worst parts of being in the music industry?
I think one of the worst parts about the music business are the corrupt people that are behind the scenes. Money changes people and I try hard to keep away from that end of the business. I have my family helping me and I am thankful for it.

Do you have any tips or "tools of the trade" for aspiring singers, looking to make it in the music industry?
This seems to be a question I get asked all the time. Begin with practice what you love. Start early in life so you can build up on your performance. You need lots of ambition, hard work, and luck. If you love to sing or act join community theater shows, school shows, church choir, talent contests. All these steps help you get noticed. Make sure you are doing it because you love it or don't do it at all. There are a lot of things to hate about the business and a lot of things to love. If the hate begins to over-ride the love then just quit.

Last but not least, do you have a message to your fans?
If I have learned anything through the years it is the importance of fans. Many actors, singers, musicians, and other public figures don't realize the importance of each and every fan they have. It is very easy to take them for granted and this becomes even more true with the more fans you have. I can't thank those fans enough who have stuck with me. I'll do anything for you guys and hopefully together we can make this dream happen. People always look at fame and see only the celebrity. I want my fans to see me as being real just like them. Everyone has talents and I have been lucky enough to share it with you all. My fans allow me to fulfill my dreams. I can't thank them enough.
