Stacy: When/how did you guys decide to become a group?
Libby: We all have been like dancing or singing together as like individuals or in a groups of a couple of us together in dance competitions or singing in studio together and so my mom and one other guy came up with just a group of people to just kind of rely on to sing for them and then we were all dancing, so we put some choreography to some of the songs that we sing together. And that’s when it came together, when we went to the important people of our label and everything really started off.
Stacy: When did you get your first recording contract? When was your first paid performance?
Chris: About a year and half
Libby: About 2 years
Brandon: No, about 2 years. A little over 2 years
Stacy: You’re a Christian group, how does it feel to be crossing over to the Pop scene?
Chris: Well, we’re really excited that we get to sing in front of people that don’t know Jesus and everything, so we think that’s awesome.
Stacy: Do you think it’s harder to get publicity? Opening with Dream Street?
[group laughs]
Libby: Dream Street gets anything, so [group laughs]
Lesley: Dream Street show, you’ve got a lot of people there
Stacy: How long does it take to learn new choreography? Who learns the easiest, and who works the hardest?
Libby: I work the hardest [group laughs] by far
Brittany: Yeah
Libby: But it takes us like..our choreographer comes in for a couple days at a time
Chris: We’ll learn like 3 routines in 3 days, so that’s a routine a day
Brandon: And if we actually finish before she has to leave we work and clean it and clean it
Group: Yeah [laughs]
Lesley: Lot of cleaning [group laughs]
Stacy: How about the music? Who learns the lyrics the fastest?
Libby: Lyrics..
Chris: Libby still doesn’t know hers [group laughs]
Libby: I’ll be in a dance rehearsal and like not even remember my verse
Brittany: Lesley..
Chris: And we all sing it for her, we’re like, "OK, come on"
Brittany: Lesley knows like the lyrics to all the songs there are
Chris: Not just our songs
Stacy: Do you practice a lot when you go into a show? Like, more so before you go into a show?
Chris: Usually, when we have a show, we have some rehearsals before just so we can..
Lesley: Like if we’re going on tour, we have a lot of rehearsals to get ready to go on tour
Brandon: But usually, like every week, we have to work out, kind of thing, so we rehearse kind of over every week, but before a show we rehearse more
Stacy: Do you guys write your own songs, if not who has been?
Chris: Well, we have some writers who have been writing right now, but we hope to start writing soon
Brandon: Yeah, we’re in the middle right now, but
Libby: Right, yeah
Stacy: Were there any criteria for the CD? Did any songs get cut?
Lesley: Yeah
Chris: Yeah, actually
Brittany: A couple songs
Lesley: A couple songs got cut. We go into the recording studio and we probably record, what
Brittany: 14, 15
Lesley: We went over 14-15 and cut them, so our CD would be short. We just pick the best ones
Stacy: When you're recording, do you have to do a lot of retakes?
Group: Yeah
Brandon: Oh, yes
Lesley: You’ve got to do it over and over again. One word, one word’s off, you’ve got to do it over and over and over
Stacy: Do you do the song fully, or do you put clips together?
Chris: Yeah, we put clips together
Brandon: We do like separate
Lesley: Sections
Group: Yeah
Brandon: Like one person can go in and do this one "ooh ahh" part and then they put it in with the rest of them
Lesley: Right
Stacy: Now, you guys tour with family, obviously.
Group: Yeah
Stacy: Is it fun or hard to have them on the road with you?
Group: It’s fun
Chris: It’s fun to have our parents around
Stacy: Do any siblings tour with you? Other than you two (Brittany and Brandon)? Or do they stay at home?
Chris: Yeah, my brother comes every now and again
Stacy: Do you each have your own manager? Or do you have one group manager or both?
Group: We have a management
Libby: And we have a manager
Brandon: We have a road manager, who comes on and does our sound
Stacy: How do you deal with so many fans, some screaming like, "I love you"?
Brandon: Yeah, right
Libby: Not many, but [laughs] oh, yeah
Lesley: We like it. They give us our energy like on stage
Stacy: Have you had any weird fan encounters?
Group: [laughs]
Brittany: We have, yeah
Lesley: Yeah, a few too many
Stacy: How long have you guys been tutored? Are you all tutored together?
Chris & Lesley: This year we started..
Chris: We started in August
Stacy: When you guys aren't touring, or doing concerts, do you hang out together?
Group: Yeah [laughs] pretty much,
Chris: We’re usually together all the time because of practice, and everything
Brandon: I don’t think we ever not see each other
Chris: Yeah
Libby: Sometimes when we’re in town we’ll go to football games or stuff like that, but that’s on a rare occasion. We get to see our friends from school last year and stuff like that
Stacy: Do you guys ever get sick of each other?
Group: No [group laughs]
Stacy: How does it feel to be young and in the music scene? Considering that Back Street Boys and N Sync are getting older?
Lesley: I think it’s awesome! It’s so much fun. It’s just like a dream come true
Stacy: You are now considered a pop star. Is it glamorous? Is it fun?
Brandon: It’s fun
Chris: It’s fun, but it’s a lot of hard work. It’s not like we learn a song and go on stage and perform. We have to work really hard at it.
Brandon: But, then again, on stage it’s just like fun, playing around. It’s really fun. It’s not really work on stage.
Stacy: Do you think it’s worth all the hard work?
Group: Yeah. Totally. Definitely.
Stacy: Do you want to stay a smaller group or do you want to go mainstream and have a huge amount of fans?
Group: Both [group laughs]
Stacy: Do you plan on a big tour anytime soon? With your own opening acts?
Group: Oh, no [big group laugh]
Brandon: No, not yet
Stacy: Will you look back on these days as the "good old days"? Have fond memories?
Libby: Yeah, I think so
Lesley: Many memories
Chris: Tons of memories
Stacy: When you grow up, or if in a few years you are no longer singing, do you have any normal jobs, like doctor, you would like to do?
Brandon: I might want to be an electronic engineer
Lesley: This isn’t normal, but I want to act
Brandon: Oh, yeah. I want to be an actor, yeah
Chris: Something in music
Brittany: Probably something still performing
Brandon: I think we still all want to perform
Stacy: What are your goals and hopes to accomplish with your music?
Chris & Lesley: Oh, wow
Libby: Just to get the lyrics, we’re so glad like in the secular section of the people that we can give off positive music today. You know, that doesn’t have any bad lyrics. Christian side, we just hope that they’ll get something by it. And that they’ll come home from the concert that they see that they’ll get something from the lyrics.
Stacy: What message do you hope kids get out of your music?
Brittany: To always be yourself
Chris: Just to have fun
Lesley: We like to be ourselves
Stacy: If you had to do everything over again, would you change anything?
Chris: No
Group: No
Lesley: I don’t think so
Chris: All the things that we’ve stumbled over and everything have made us a better person
Brittany: Right
Stacy: Is there anything you would like to say to your fans who will be reading this?
Group: Thank you! [group laughs]
