Kaila Amariah Interview

Many of you Dream Street/Chris Trousdale fans would know Kaila Amariah as Debbie in the movie "The Biggest Fan". Sugar Sweet Promotions had the chance to email her a few questions on the movie and about herself. Check it out!

For all the new fans, why don't you tell us a little about yourself?
People tell me I look like Christina Ricci, haha, and Katie Holmes. I love people and seeing new places, oh and my favorite color is pink, woo hoo.

How old were you when did you decided you wanted to be an actress?
Two, I always have loved performing. Me and my grandpa used to sing and do little skits when I was small and my mom and I would play cooking show as she made dinner. I always wanted to be on TV or in movies.

Did anything specific make you want to become an actress?
When I was little I use to wonder how the tv worked. Never coming to a conclusion I decided God made it, so I wanted to help. I guess it was put in my heart to entertain and help God put the people in the tv.

How long have you been acting?
Forever, does acting in the mirror count?

Was it easy to find an agent?
For me yeah. I was scouted by my first agent. My second one I heard was good, I went and read for. And, the one I have now I just had the people from The Biggest Fan call. They said she was really easy to work with. I have been lucky with agents.

Have you ever taken dance/vocal or acting lessons?  If so, for how long?
Yes, yes, and yes. I took dance as a kid probably for about 3 years. I want to start back up. I have taken singing and been in choir all my life and acting I started at 7 and still attend classes. It's always good to practice.

Did you do any commercials or local acting before you got cast for "The Biggest Fan"?
I have local things and independant stuff, but never commercials.

Was "The Biggest Fan" your first movie? If not, what was?
No, my first lead role was in a film called dizzyland.

Do you have any movies projects in the works right now?
I just booked a tv show and I hope to work on another movie soon.

I read somewhere that before the movie, you weren't a big fan of Dream Street.  After the movie, how do you feel about them?
I love them!!! They are so great and so good at what they do.

Are there any actors/actresses that you would love to be in a movie with?
Katie Holmes or Christina Ricci. I have always seen myslf as playing one of their sisters.

What do you hope to accomplish in your acting career?
I want to be known well enough in front of the camera that I could be respected behind the camera.

Do you go to school, or do you have a private tutor?
Both. I go to school when I'm not working and have tutors when I am.

Where do you live?  Did you have to travel far to work on the movie?
I live 40 miles East of LA in Cali. I had to travel about 45 min to work everyday.

How long did it take to film the movie?
About a month.

What were the best and worst parts of making the movie?
The best part was being able to fufill a life long dream, along with traveling. The worst part I think is that I grew up alot on that set. I learned alot and maybe was not as emotionaly mature in the beginning as I am now. I still have so much to learn.

If you weren't acting, what would you like to do?
I love the biz. Anything in the entertainment industry, even if I had to do craft service, I would.

Will you look back on these years as the "good 'ol days"?
Yeah. I hope to, but you never know, maybe the yeats ahead are great new days (I hope).

Is there anything you would like to say to the fans reading this now?
Thank You for everything you have done, and for your continual support and for welcoming me into this..family.
