Lisa Foiles Interview

Why don't you tell us a little about yourself?
I am 16 years old (but haven’t got my license yet:!) I am a regular cast member on Nickelodeon’s “All That” (a dream come true!)! I LOVE my 2 kitties and my big dog. I tap dance, perform in ballet, and sing. I love horseback riding, playing tennis and ping-pong. I also love computers.  I built my own website (www.lisafoiles.com) and I have fun chatting online with my cousins and friends!

When did you start acting?
I started competing in dance competitions at the age of 4, which can be considered acting; because of the way you present and perform your dance. I’ve been doing musical theater since age 8, but acting on television only about 3 years.

What inspired you to become an actress?
When I was 7 years old, I went to the Broadway show, “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. I said, “That’s what I want to do!”

Do you think you'll ever pursue a singing career, like many other young actresses are currently doing?
I’m a singer, so I have thought about it often!  It would be a blast! I love Country music, so that is the direction I would go. I currently sing at different venues around southern California, so I have the beginnings of a singing career going.

I have been in professional voice lessons, since I was 7, but Mom says I started singing, when I was 14 months old. It is something I just have always loved doing! When I was very young, I watched “The Sound of Music” 4-6 times a day, and sang along with the “Wee Sing” tapes, when I was in the car. So, if a “career” in singing happens or not, I will always sing.

If we spent a day with you, what would it be like? What is your daily schedule?
A day at the set would be: Get up and arrive at the set around 10:00. Go to the “table read” and read through the script, then rehearse until lunch. During lunch I practice my dancing on the stage or sometimes go to lunch with the cast. After lunch, we rehearse the sketches until around 4:00. Then, we run through the whole show all at once. It takes about 45 minutes. Then, we go home.  I work on my lines, do school, and swim in the pool for exercise.

If you could work with any actor or actress, who would it be, and why?
My dream was to act with Amanda Bynes and that dream actually came true! She’s an amazing actress and the sweetest person.  If I could go back in time, I would love to work with Bob Hope!

What was it like when you were told you beat out 1,500 other actors and actresses to become one of the 7 cast members of "All That"?
It was a shocker, that’s for sure! I was stunned! It actually took a few days for me to actually realize that it was real!

You've probably met a lot of stars. Were you ever star struck?
I've only been star struck a few times, mostly when the BIG stars came on, like Amanda Bynes and Britney Spears!

Since you're pretty young, do you find it harder for people to take you seriously as an actress?
Well, I think I have gained respect from some people on the set, because I work so hard to have my lines memorized by the next day, and I try to be polite and “direct-able.” On the serious side of my acting, I hope to do a dramatic part soon, so people can see that side of me.

Do you have any tips for kids trying to make it in the entertainment business?
Start in theater! Don’t just go straight to an agent and say, “Take me and make me a star!” Get some experience in theater and try getting an acting coach. It will pay off, trust me. The more things you can do, the better. Dance, play an instrument, or sing. Do SOMETHING else, in addition to acting.

Do you have a message for your fans?
Thank you so much for supporting my show! I hope to keep making you laugh and smile in the future!
