First off, why don't you introduce yourself?
My name is Marques Houston.
If you had to describe yourself in 3 words or less to a new fan, what would they be and why?
I don't like describing myself. [laughs a little]
When was the first time you realized that you wanted to be a singer?
I would say when I was about 7 or 8.
What is one of your favorite songs on your self-titled album?
I would say number 15, Alone, because it was the first one we recorded, or number 2, Clubbin', because it's my personal favorite.
You were on the Scream III Tour with B2K and Nick Cannon this summer. How did that go?
Great. It went really great. The people were great and the performances were great.
Do you have any other tours in the works?
We really don't have anything right now, but we're trying to.
What would your dream tour be?
Myself. Shoot. [laughs a little] Myself. I've never really thought of that. I guess I would just have to say myself headlining. I don't care who else. It's just a dream to headline.
Do you ever get recognized for being "Roger" from the TV series "Sister, Sister?"
All the time. [laughs]
You've dabbled in acting and singing. Which do you prefer?
I love both. They are both two different things, and I love both.
What is a typical day for you?
Typical day for me? There's no such thing. Some days I'm in the office making phone calls. I'm involved with a lot of behind the scenes things. I'm an officer of the company I am with, T.U.G.. Other days I'll do shows here and there, travel. I wish I had a typical day, though. A typical day off for me would be at home chillin'.
What are the best and worst parts of being in the music industry?
The best part is the recognition. You're recognized so much. The worst part of the music industry is when you don't get recognized.
If you weren't in the entertainment business, what would you be doing?
Basketball.
Do you have any tips or "tools of the trade" for aspiring singers, looking to make it in the music industry?
Just be really determined and focused. You have to have the ambition, the drive that makes you do it.
Last, but not least, do you have a message for your fans?
My message...If you're in school, stay in school. Get a great education. Work to be whatever. It's a cliché, but it's the truth. Really know that. Keep your mind to it. There's no limit. Stay positive and that's it.
Thanks for your time!
Thanks.
