First off, why don't you introduce the band? How did you guys get together and form the band?
DJ and Jeff have been in the band for years. They've had different members throughout the years. We just recently made a final lineup which is Me, Rick, Greg, DJ, and Jeff.
How would you describe your music?
It's like alternative rock/punk kind of stuff. I don't know. It's good shit.
How's the Warped Tour going for you?
Awesome. It's really good. We've been doing really well on it. it's been really successful. We're having the best time on it.
Do you feel that the other bands look down on you, or treat you any
differently, since you're the only unsigned band on the tour?
It started off being like that, but I think people are starting to notice and respect us. We're all totally blown away. I see NHOI more than I see anything else, more than any other band, even Kevin Limen, the head of the tour, came up to us yesterday and said something like, "You guys are taking over the tour". Now, we're starting to get respect. Everyone sees our name everywhere, and se's the kids we're drawing on, and finally
sees us as a real band.
What's one of your favorite songs to perform live at a show?
I like playing "Last Letter Red". I think it's a fun song to play. It has a little bit of a groove to it, a little slower.
What was your most embarrassing stage moment?
Stage moment? I don't know. I haven't really goofed up that hard on stage to be embarrassed [laughs] I'm usually all right. DJ tends to drop the mic a little bit too much. It's sort of embarrassing.
Stacy: Or he'll decapitate people.
Elmo: [laughs a little] Exactly.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Warped tour in 1997. It was my first concert. I went with my dad. It was AWESOME. And now I'm like friends with all the bands I saw there. I was like this little 13 year old kid.
What's the best thing about being in a band?
About being IN a band? I don't know. I think it's awesome. You get a lot of privileges, you know? You get to see the world. Your job is doing what you love. I love playing drums. It's like my favorite thing to do, any time, at all, and I get to do it every day.
What's the worst thing about being in a band?
Showering. On tour, especially this tour, showers are rare. If you can make the time for it, when you're not that busy, you can do it every day. But, as busy as we are, sometimes you have to go a couple of days.
I'm sure you brought a lot of sentimental things from home on this tour.
What is one of your most prized posessions?
My cell phone.
Are there any times when you just want to quit and go home? If so, what
do you do to keep yourself 'going'?
I've never actually wanted to quit and go home. I miss being home. I haven't been home since pretty much April, aside from doing the L.A. shows and stuff. But to keep going, I realize how fortunate I am to be in [funny voice] Wisconsin, or wherever I am at the time. I think it's rad.
What do you think of the term "sell out"?
I think it's used wrong all the time. I don't think you're selling out, if you're signed to a major label, it doesn't mean you're selling out, it just means you're getting your music to more kids. Maybe. If all goes well. I think the term 'sell out' should only be used, when you're not doing what you want to do, when you're being told completely what to wear and completely what to write. If you're even writing, sometimes to stop writing your own songs, so songwriters come in.
If you could give the aspiring bands/singers any tips on the music
industry, what would they be, and why?
Be careful with your shit. They can rape you in this industry. Know everything that is happening to your band. I mean, have people help you out, but be involved in the decision making process as much as possible. That's one thing that causes problems, if somebody isn't involved, or somebody doesn't know exactly what's going on.
The next few questions are just some random, fun questions. You can't
be serious, when answering these questions.
Ok
If you could put a "perfect" band together, who would be in it?
Who'd be in the perfect band? Me. [laughs a little] Dave Grohl, 'cause I love him, Paul McCartney, and....um...[thinking] Shakira. [laughs] That'd be AWESOME.
Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera?
Christina Aguilera. I've met both of them. Christina's cooler, she's got a waayyyyyy better voice, like actually live. She actually has an amazing voice AND she does her thing. She goes out and does something kinda of ugly.
If you could pick any one singer/band to remake one of your songs, who
would it be, what song would it be, and why?
To remake one of OUR songs?
Stacy: Yeah
Oh, shit. Um. I would want Ricky Martin to cover 'Hard Headed'.
Stacy: [laughs] I could picture that.
That'd be AWESOME.
What would you REALLY do for a Klondike bar?
Duuuuude.
Stacy: [laughs]
I don't know. [laughs a little] I don't know what I'd really do. Punch
someone in the face.
What's your favorite pick-up line?
I don't know. Have you heard my band? [laughs] I don't really use them. "Do your feet hurt, 'cause you've been running through my mind all day, baby."
What is your favorite blonde joke? I can ask this question, because I'm a blonde.
My favorite blonde joke. Jeff knows so many. Jeff, our guitar player, knows so many jokes, so many blonde jokes, and all that kind of stuff and I always forget them. Jeff has me laughing for hours, whenever he goes on these joke rampages, just keep it going, flowing, and I can't come up with one. I don't have a favorite blonde joke.
How many of you have teddy bears in your bunks? Be honest, now.
None of us has teddy bears. DJ has two body pillows that he has to have on each side of him, so when he rolls over he has something to cuddle with. I always fall asleep with my cell phone in my hand. I don't know why.
Last, but not least, do you have a message for your fans?
If you see us, make sure you come up to us and say 'hi'. Don't be scared. There's always one of us at our merch table, pretty much at all times, and we want to meet you, have a good time, see what you're like, see what we're like.
That's it!
