Why don't you tell us a little about yourself?
I am twelve years old. I have been playing in the clubs since I was eight. My music has taken me all over the United States. I have opened for a lot of national acts in front of very large crowds. 50,000+. I have my own self titled band. I play guitar and handle most of the singing. My bass player is Jason Southard (he does some singing also) and my drummer is Ryan Baker. We do mostly cover songs along with some of my originals. I go to Poston Junior High. I like playing basketball in my spare time. My favorite food is Panda Express. I am 4’9 ¾. I have two cats (Zoomy and Ziggy) a dog (Buddy), and Maddie, my nine year old sister, has two hamsters (Brittany and Chris). I am allergic to watermelon which is my favorite fruit. My favorite animal is either a penguin or a moose.
Who is your biggest role model?
My biggest role model is Uli Jon Roth. He is a guitar player who used to play with the Scorpions a long time ago. Now he does solo stuff.
How long have you been playing guitar?
I have been playing guitar for about 5 years.
Was it really hard at first, or did it come naturally to you?
No, It wasn’t really difficult for me. I just sort of picked it up very quickly.
How much do you practice each day?
I don’t really practice that much, I usually just play anything that is of interest to me or learn music theory. When I have a show coming up I go over all my songs to prepare for it.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
The first concert I ever went to was Ted Nugent. I had just turned 6 about 2 months before the show.
What CD/s are currently in your CD player?
Uli John Roth & Rush.
You've met a lot of big stars. Do you have a favorite? If so, why?
Eric Johnson. He was a very nice person to be with and to talk to.
Were you ever star struck?
No.
Do you feel that kids you go to school with look at you differently, because of the stars you met? Do they treat you like a star, yet?
No & no.
Do you feel that people have a tough time taking you seriously as a musician, since you're so young?
Yes. Most people think they are going to see a little kid playing guitar and they usually come away from the show surprised.
What do you hope to accomplish with your career?
I hope to be a touring musician and also work in the studio as a studio musician.
Do you have any tips for kids your age that would like to make it in the music industry?
If it’s what you really want, just work hard at it. It does take a lot of work and a lot of time.
If in a few years, you're no longer singing, what would you do? Would you still want to stay in some area of the music industry?
I play guitar and sing. If I was no longer doing either, I would like to be a professional pinecone picker-upper. Just kidding! I would like to stay in some form of work in the music industry or be an engineer. I also play drums, bass guitar, string bass, sing, piano, and classical guitar.
And last, but not least, if you could say anything to the fans reading or watching this now, what would you say?
Never pick up hitchhiking moose! Keep listening to and supporting great music.
