Chapter 5 ~ Major Problems
(One week later)
“Greg hunnie, you need to clean your room before you go back to school Monday.” Mrs. Raposo said as she walked into the bedroom. Clothes were strewn all over, magazines littered the floor in stacks, the bed was unmade. Basically, the room looked like a tornado hit. “I know Ma. I’ll do it now I guess.” The bored teenager said as he dragged himself away from his computer game and towards the mess.
(Meanwhile)
At Rae’s house, everything was calm and under control, the opposite of Greg’s. “You have your supplies packed in your bag?” Cindy asked. “Yep.” The reply from the closet came.
“Outfit picked out?”
“Nope, I’m doing that now. I’m thinking about calling Greg and asking what I should wear.” Rae said as she popped her head out of the closet. Cindy wasn’t fooled. She knew that Rae had feelings for Greg, but refused to admit them.
“Okay. I’m going to take Michael to the park so you can get ready.” Cindy said.
“Thanks Aunt Cindy. You’re being a big help.”
“You’re welcome sweetie. Don’t forget that you need to get him enrolled in a day care program for while you’re at school.”
“Oh! I almost forgot. I’ll put that on my list of things to do.”
“Bye. I’ll see you later.” Cindy said as she made her exit. Rae picked up her sky blue phone and pulled out her address book, looking up Greg. Three rings later, a tired sounding voice came over the phone.
“Hello?”
“Hey Greg. You okay? You sound tired.” Rae asked, immediately concerned.
“Uh, yeah. Just cleaning the room.” Greg said as he pulled his file box out and started to clean it for this year. He came upon a folder that he forgot was in there. While they were chatting, he flipped through it and found a copy of his contract with Edel. One part stood out to him though and caused him to groan inwardly.
At no time may the employees of Edel, for examples the aforesaid members of Dream Street, may have an exclusive relationship with a member of the staff, i.e. stage hands, office workers, choreographer etc.
“Well, the reason that I called was that I can’t decide what to wear to school the first day. Could you help? Please?” she asked.
“Lemme finish my room and I’ll come over, how’s that?” Greg said. He figured that he could finish his room in about 10 minutes, since it wasn’t that bad after he started to work on it. But now he had to call Chris and tell him about the little problem.
“That’s great. See ya later.” Rae said.
“Yeah, see ya.” Greg said before he hung up.
Back at her home, Rae wondered what Greg seemed so upset about. Whatever it is, I’ll talk to him while we find an outfit.
“Chris, I can’t go out with her.” Greg said as soon as his friend’s voice answered the phone.
“Whaddya mean? We made a deal.” Chris said. He was getting tired of Greg trying to back out of the deal.
“It’s not what you think. I found a copy of our contract. It says as clear as day that I’m not allowed to date her. If you don’t believe me, take a look yourself.”
Chris looked at his copy and surprisingly, Greg was right. “Well, you can say ‘Screw it.’ and date her anyway, or forget about the it, since the bet’s now off.”
“Thanks so much.” But now Greg was in a bind. If he dated her, which he wanted to do now, he put his career and her job at stake. “I’ll think about it and call you later.” Greg said before hastily hanging up the phone and heading over to Rae’s.
Rae was so busy going through the masses of clothes on her bed that she forgot that she was still wearing the pajamas that she changed into after her shower. She heard the doorbell ring and ran down the stairs and opened the door. She was expecting a cheerful, perky Greg, but instead she found a confused Greg. “Hey,” she smiled brightly, “C’mon in. Aunt Cindy took Michael to the park and Uncle John is at work.” Greg just stood on the door step with his eyes wide and mouth hanging open. “What, is there something on my shirt?” she asked as she looked down. Then she realized why he was looking at her like that. She was wearing a powder blue tank top that ended a couple inches above her belly button and a pair of baggy, low riding, powder blue pajama pants with clouds on it. The top was a little too tight and the pants were a little too low, showing her firm abdomen. She brushed a stray piece of hair that had escaped her ponytail behind her ear. “Well c’mon Greg. It’s just pajamas.” she said as she pulled him into the house.
He followed her up the stairs to her room and silently laughed. It was different shades of blue and a white trim. “Like the color blue a little Rae?” he asked. She turned to him and smiled evily. “You haven’t even seen my wardrobe yet.”
